Friends In A Metro

Friends In A MetroThere’s a new show playing on Fever 104 FM radio station. The show is aptly titled as Friends in a Metro emphasizing on the importance of friendship in one’s life when the person starts in his journey of adulthood after completion of college. I listen to it daily. One of the friends is from Delhi and therefore puts forth all the typical Delhi mannerism. Being a Delhiwali myself, I am in love with this character, the way the emotions and mannerisms are portrayed.
But what I am most interested is the innovation technique. A sit-com like show on a radio which play songs 24×7 is amazing. Even though Fever has hosted mythological shows, a sit-com like show is definitely a first, at least in India, for Fever. State Radio has BBC produced shows but then they are not playing songs 24×7. The show only plays for 10 minutes. Scores point with this strategy as holding a listener’s attention for 30 minutes for a sit-com like show on radio is difficult. By keeping the show for 10 minutes, the show gets the well-deserved and unhindered listener’s attention. The show beings with a father telling story of her mother to a daughter. Scores point on instant connection with the bond that the father shares with her daughter.
Radio is all about sounds. Without right sound effects, the show would not be more than just a banal narrative. The show again scores a point by putting right sound effects which create a moving picture before the listener. Also, interestingly, there’s a special sound effect that distinguishes the conversation of the father & daughter duo from the story.
Characters are very interesting. I am sure many people would have identified a bit of themselves in each of the characters. Scores one more point.
The show also scores point on the timing when the show airs. Its 8 AM. This is the time when most of the people are going to their offices and colleges. Great time to start a hectic day which will be full of tensions.
Of course the marketing of the show has been great with the snippets of the show airing for a week at the same time to catch listener’s attention.
All in whole, this show is an example of out-of-box creative, innovative thinking, and above all a great show.

  1. Thanks for such generous words. I am the writer and director of this show and your words have given me a lot of inspiration to bring season 2 of FIAM. I would like to read more from you

    • Thank you for your comments. I am glad that someone from the show read it and like it. 🙂 Please do inform me when you will start the new season. 🙂 All the best.

  2. HI Sumanto. I have been following all of episodes of FIAM of both the seasons. Infact Im just addicted to FIAM. All the characters are incredible and have been portrayed excellently. But believe me, you have disappointed me with your ending. Its shocking.
During season 1, all along during narration, I was hoping that laddu’s daddy is Anshuman not Aniketh (though his voice resembled that of Aniketh). I feel it could have been more gripping. Anyway, I have truly enjoyed all the episodes of FIAM and I wish I could get a chance to share table#5 for lunch/dinner with those 5 Friends.
